Course Description

This course is designed to help students develop practical software engineering knowledge that can be applied during their Students Industrial Work Experience Scheme (SIWES) placement.

Students will be introduced to the software development process, programming fundamentals, software design, version control, testing, debugging, documentation, and professional development practices. The course focuses on helping students understand how software is planned, developed, tested, maintained, and delivered in a real-world work environment.

Through practical exercises and projects, students will build foundational skills that can help them contribute more confidently to software development tasks during their SIWES placement and prepare for further learning in software engineering.

Course Requirements

• * No professional software engineering experience is required.
• * Students should have access to a laptop or desktop computer.
• * Basic knowledge of mathematics and logical reasoning is helpful.
• * An internet connection is recommended for accessing development resources and tools.
